Sumario:Reviews the ten years leading up to the signing in 1975 of the agreement to establish the Netherlands National Institute for Nuclear and High Energy Physics (NIKHEF). Discusses the first year's work and the programme for 1976-81. NIKHEF has two sections. Section K at Amsterdam contains IKO and the nearly completed 300 MeV linac. Research will begin in 1978 into nuclear structure by means of photon, electron, pion and muon scattering. Section H is to study elementary particles in conjunction with the SPS at CERN and PETRA at Hamburg. (0 refs).
