Design and use of a data monitoring system for experiments with the CERN Omega spectrometer

The authors discuss the general approach to data monitoring in a complex experimental environment, and the resulting software designed for use with the Omega spectrometer at CERN and comment on their operational experience and the generality of the program system which emerged. (5 refs).
