Sumario:A review of the principle applications of the quark parton model is given, in which the following reactions-deep inelastic scattering of electrons, muons, and neutrinos; production of lepton pairs, J/4 and W in hadronic collisions; electron-position annihilation; and large transverse momentum hadronic processes-are discussed. The physics of jets is also dealt with, as are the modifications to the simple parton model expected from the effects of quantum chromodynamics. (28 refs).
