Description and performance of a large spectrometer equipped with proportional chambers
A large multiparticle spectrometer, equipped with 36000 active wires, is described. It is running in a high-flux secondary beam of the new Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) at CERN. First experimental results exhibit the performance of the apparatus. (2 refs).
