Sumario:When comparing theory with experiment, both in e/sup +/e/sup -/ annihilation into hadrons and deep inelastic mu /eN scattering, only the radiative corrections affecting the lepton vertex are taken into account. However, at high energy other radiative corrections (propagator and hadron vertex ones) are of the same order of magnitude as asymptotic freedom corrections. These radiative corrections are considered. For e/sup +/e/sup -/ annihilation, a complete treatment is presented (including second-order gluon corrections), showing that electromagnetic and gluon corrections conspire to give a (roughly) energy-independent 10% increase in the value of R predicted by the naive parton model. For e/ mu N scattering, only the (probably dominating) corrections to the propagator are calculated. Their importance is smaller than the previous case, but they are still significant. (18 refs).
