description For pt.I see ibid., vol.30, p.281 (1980). Reviews theoretical and experimental work on high-energy hadron scattering. The dual model; the rigorous study of the limits of scattering amplitudes, which is based on the positive assumptions resulting from unitarity, and on analyticity; and the multiperipheral model are described. Discovery of high-energy transverse impulses (p/sub T/>or=1 GeV/c), which can be assumed to arise from point-sources, and thereby are a continuation of Rutherford's scattering experiment in 1911, are described. Graphs of transverse impulse experiments show associated multiplicities. (0 refs).
