A partial wave analysis of K/sup -/n to pi /sup -/ Lambda between 19 and 22 GeV

New data on the reaction K/sup -/n to pi /sup -/ Lambda have been obtained from 135K pictures of 1.78 GeV/c K/sup -/ in the CERN 2m DBC. Sumario:New data on the reaction K/sup -/n to pi /sup -/ Lambda have been obtained from 135K pictures of 1.78 GeV/c K/sup -/ in the CERN 2m DBC. A total of 60K events selected as being likely neutron interactions have been measured. Just over 3000 fits have been obtained to the reaction K/sup -/d to pi /sup -/ Lambda (p), with the proton seen or not. After removing events with proton momentum >280 MeV/c and also removing a few events from an enhancement in the Lambda p invariant mass spectrum, one is left with 2434 events of the type K/sup -/n to pi /sup -/ Lambda with CM energy between 2.010 and 2.210 GeV. The author has expressed the data in the form of relative differential cross-sections and polarizations. Combining these new data with data from 1.45 and 1.65 GeV/c he has done an energy-dependent partial wave analysis of the reaction K/sup -/n to pi /sup -/ Lambda between 1.9 and 2.2 GeV. The main purpose of the analysis was to investigate the Sigma (2080) with J/sup P/=3/2/sup +/. (1 refs).
