Sumario: | A streamer chamber system has been constructed surrounding as completely as possible one of the intersection regions of the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings. The system consists of two identical streamer chambers with ground electrodes shaped to fit the vacuum tubes of the storage rings. To detect photons, lead oxide plates have been inserted into the sensitive volume of the chambers. To have a very short and constant memory time, a system which measures and regulates the memory time within a few per cent is used. (4 refs). |
