Sumario:The CERN Intersecting Storage Rings are now in routine operation for colliding-beam physics. In 1972 more than 75% of the total operating time was used for physics or preparation for physics runs. The machine's performance has increased substantially. The original design aim for luminosity has been reached and decay rates and background radiation with intense beams have been further reduced. Some operational aspects and the main performance limitations are described. (13 refs).
