Sumario: | A study of the effect of VELO misalignments on the LHCb tracking and Level 1 trigger performance has been performed. The ability of the current tracking and Level 1 trigger algorithms to deal with misalignments introduced by construction precision and detector movements is assessed. This serves to place constraints on the level of precision required during assembly and the determination of the position of the VELO after insertion. This also gives an indication of the ‘worst case’ performance of the LHCb VELO without further misalignment corrections by software. |
