Evidence for a new K*K at a mass of 1530 MeV with IJ$^{PC}=01^{++}$ observed in $K^{-}p$ interactions at 42 GeV/c

Sumario:Evidence is presented for a new K*K+c.c. resonance with a mass of (1526+or-6) MeV, a width of (107+or-15) MeV and quantum numbers IJ/sup PC/=01/sup ++/. The authors call it D' meson. Initially it is observed as a K*K+c.c. enhancement in the reactions K^{-}p to (K/sub s/^{0}K/sup +or-/\pi/sup -or+/) Lambda at 4.2 GeV/c. The isospin assignment I=0 comes from its further observation in the reactions K ^{-}p to (K/sub s/^{0}K/sup +or-/\pi/sup -or+/) Sigma ^{0} and K^{-}p to (K/sub s/^{0}K/sup +or-/\pi/sup -or+/) Sigma (1385)^{0} but not in K^{-}p to (K^{+}K^{-}\pi/sup -)/ Sigma ^{+} or K^{-}p to (K/sub s/^{0}K^{-}\pi^{0}) Sigma (1385)^{+}. A maximum likelihood analysis of the (KK\pi) decay Dalitz plots in the reactions K^{-}p to (K/sub s/^{0}K/sup +or-/\pi/sup -or+/) Lambda determines the J/sup PC/ of the D' meson to be 1/sup ++/. A satisfactory SU(3) fit is obtained to a 1/sup ++/ nonet composed of the I=1, A/sub 1/, the I=1/2 Q/sub A/ with the D (1285) and the D'(1526) as the I=0 members having a mixture angle close to the magnetic one.
