Sumario: | Located on the French-Swiss border near Geneva, CERN is the world biggest scientific laboratory in particles physics. Including both theoretical and experimental research, it will host in 2007 the most powerful particle collider ever designed, the LHC. It's precisely in this design phase that the work done from April till September 2005 takes place. The aim was to design a control and monitoring interface for the front-end electronic of the RICH detectors in LHCb. The work relied on components already in the project or on components especially designed. Running under the PVSS II SCADA software, result is a set of components providing an easy way to control, configure and monitor the whole RICH front-end electronic system and its power supply. The power supply system is based on CAEN hardware, and has been tested in order to verify if it complies with the requirements of the final system. As any research job, a part of the time was spent adjusting and testing the different components, in the SPECS data transmission or on the electronic design as well as documenting the work that have been done. This report describes the work done, its context and its tools. |
