It was built by the Max-Planck-Institut (Munich) and the Vanderbilt University. HYBUC was brought to CERN in 1971 and installed in a specially built, 500 MeV/c, electrostatically-separated, K- beam in the PS North Hall (k16), to obtain polarised Sigma+ and hence allow the measurement of the Sigma+ magnetic moment. The photo was taken there shortly before dismantling (?). (See also Annual Report 1979 p. 19, Fiig 3).
