Sumario:"Master" unit of the "Mascot" servo-manipulator in action during reassembly of the PS internal dump target unit. Photo 7701334 shows the "Slave" unit. The two units are some forty metres apart, and the operator is working with the help of three steerable television cameras and a sound pick-up as well as the 'feel" conveyed to him by the force-feedback system. (Annual Report 1976.) "Mascot" evolved into "Mantis" to accomodate the SPS needs, especially for the neutrino beam.
