description After a brief introduction to Linear Colliders and the experience with the only Linear Colliders operated so far, the SLC at SLAC, the two schemes presently envisaged for future Linear Colliders as well as their planned perfomances, their challenges and key issues are presented, namely: - The International Linear Collider (ILC) based on Super-Conducting RF technology for a Linear Collider with colliding beams in the TeV energy range - The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) based on a novel Two Beam Acceleration concept to extend Linear Colliders into the Multi-TeV colliding beam energy range. The present status and the planned R&D to develop these two technologies, address the key issues, demonstrate their feasibility and prepare their industrialisation will be presented
