Sumario:A view along the freshly installed SPS magnets. In the month that this picture was taken, April 1976, installation of the SPS was completed and its injection lines were tested. A few weeks later, on 3 May, a proton beam circulated for the first time. Soon 80 GeV were attained, then 200 GeV on 4 June, and 300 GeV, the nominal energy, on 17 June, during Council session, and pushed to 400 GeV the same day.
