SPS in its tunnel

A view along the seemingly endless string of SPS bending magnets. In 1976, SPS installation had been completed, the machine started up with beam in May, and in the month that this picture was taken, November 1976, the design intensity of 10**13 protons per pulse was reached. See also 7604118.
