An overall view of intersection I8 at the ISR

(See Annual Report 1979 p. 114, Fig. 1.) At the extreme left are the liquid argon calorimeters of experiment R806, withdrawn to allow access to the outer half of the R807 central drift chamber. In the centre is the circular pole of the Open Axial Field Magnet (OAFM) with par of the supporting structure for the uranium calorimeter above it. To the right can be seen the high-pressure Cerenkov counter, the wall of proportional chambers and the atmospheric pressure Cerenkov counters (extreme right).
