A transport and positioning system for the magnetized iron spectrometer has become operative. This system is capable of simultaneously moving by 1.5 m the eight supermodules in use, each weighing 180 tons, and of positioning them with a precision of 0.2 mm (Annual Report 1982 p. 62).
