R807 at intersection I8, ISR

The photo shows (centre) the newly installed muon filter of R807. The Open Axial Field magnet can be seen on the left-hand side with the central drift chamber in position around the beam crossing. The vertical wall of uranium calorimeters is withdrawn for access, and behind it can be seen the iron shielding blocks and finally the proportional chambers aqnd atmospheric Cerenkov counters which provide the muon detection.
