Radio-Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ)

A specially shaped electrode structure is used to accelerate, focus, and bunch protons protons supplied to it at 50 keV. The first of a new generation of linac preinjectors was installed aiming to supply Linac 1 with 500 keV protons. See photo 8303511X, 8303508X, 8303507X.
