Data quality monitoring and quality assurance for the ALICE-HMPID Detector

The ALICE-HMPID Detector (High Momentum Particle Identification Detector), is based on the Cherenkov effect and allows the identification (3-sigma separation) of pions and kaons in the momentum range 1 GeV/c < p < 3 GeV/c and of protons in the range 1.5 GeV/c < p < 5 GeV/c. The Data Qual...

Sumario:The ALICE-HMPID Detector (High Momentum Particle Identification Detector), is based on the Cherenkov effect and allows the identification (3-sigma separation) of pions and kaons in the momentum range 1 GeV/c < p < 3 GeV/c and of protons in the range 1.5 GeV/c < p < 5 GeV/c. The Data Quality Monitoring (DQM) and the Quality Assurance (QA) are important aspects for the HEP experiment. During the data taking, an on-line check of the quality of the data collected by each ALICE sub-detector (DQM) is needed to guarantee high detector performance. Quality checks on Monte Carlo simulation and real data are also performed to ensure the quality of the data produced and the goodness of the physics results. The HMPID QA functions have been implemented as part of AliRoot, the official software framework of ALICE, while the HMPID DQM functions are included in AMORE, the official software of the experiment dedicated to the on-line monitoring. The Quality Assurance and the Data Quality monitoring related to the performance of the ALICE-HMPID detector will be presented.
