B-meson reconstruction performance and spectra in pp and pPb collisions in CMS

The CMS Collaboration has recently measured the B-meson production in pPb collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV via the reconstruction of the decays B+→J/ψK+ , B0→J/ψK⁎(892) and Bs0→J/ψϕ , with J/ψ→μ+μ− . The study of B-meson production in proton–nucleus collisions allows one to investigate the relevance of co...

description The CMS Collaboration has recently measured the B-meson production in pPb collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV via the reconstruction of the decays B+→J/ψK+ , B0→J/ψK⁎(892) and Bs0→J/ψϕ , with J/ψ→μ+μ− . The study of B-meson production in proton–nucleus collisions allows one to investigate the relevance of cold nuclear matter effects and, in addition, provides an important baseline for the understanding of the heavy-quark energy loss mechanisms in PbPb collisions. In proton–proton collisions, open heavy-flavour measurements at the LHC provide a way to test predictions of quantum chromodynamics at the highest available collision energies. In these proceedings, the measurements of the pT -differential cross section of B+ , B0 , Bs0 and the y -differential cross section of B+ in pPb collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV will be presented. The nuclear modification factors RpAFONLL of B+ , B0 and Bs0 , obtained by using the FONLL predictions at s=5.02 TeV as a pp reference, will also be shown.
