description In this thesis Supersymmetry models with Gauge Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking containing τ leptons in the final states are investigated using the ATLAS detector. A cut based selection is optimized with a typical GMSB signal to maximize the reduction of the Standard Model background with respect to the signal. For the first time an estimation of the discovery potential in the GMSB parameter space using τ leptons is done. In addition, the invariant mass distribution of two τ leptons is used to study the masses of the supersymmetric particles.
