Sumario: | We illustrate some statistical challenges in Astrophysics and Cosmology, inparticular noting the application of Bayesian methods and model selectioncriteria. We describe two examples where Bayesian methods have improved ourinference: (i) photometric redshift estimation and (ii) orbital parameters ofextra-solar planets. While sub-communities in Astrophysics, High Energy Physicsand Statistics develop separately their specific techniques, it is beneficial to'compare notes' and to exchange methods. |
