Étude des jets associés à la production d’un boson Z pour les collisions proton-proton à CMS à une énergie de √ s =8 TeV

Sumario:We describe a measurement of the differential cross section for the production of one or more jets in association with a Z boson decaying in two muons in p-p collisions at a center of mass energy of √ s = 8T eV . The cross section is presented as a function of the pT of the nth jet, as a function of η of the nth jet and as a function of the jet exclusif number. We present also the differential cross section as a function of the Z kinematic variables pT and η. The data have been collected in the year 2012 by the CMS detector and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.3 fb−1 . In a first part the thesis presents all the steps leading to the data recording at CMS as well as the procedure of event generation and reconstruction. In a second part, the details of the analysis are presented : data and Monte Carlo sets, trigger paths, efficiency determination and signal extraction. The distributions obtained after background and pileup subtraction are then unfolded back to the generator level using inversion matrix obtained from MC samples. The differential cross section are then shown and compared to theoretical predictions from MadGraph MC.
