Sumario: | In this contribution the strategy for the initial intensity ramp-up, the ramp- ups after short stops and the machine protection validations (loss maps, asynchronous beam dump tests) will be reviewed and improvements proposed. Operating the LHC with important systems in a degraded mode will be reviewed and discussed on the basis of two examples. A new fast failure case, causing orbit kicks on the beam in case of a quench will be presented. Finally, the machine protection classification and approval strategy of machine developments (MDs) is reviewed. |
