The search for low scale technicolor in the Z + γ channel in 7 TeV ATLAS data

A search for low scale technicolor (LSTC) particles, ρ$_{T}$ and ω$_{T}$, decaying to a Z boson and a photon with the Z decaying to electrons or muons, is presented. Sumario:A search for low scale technicolor (LSTC) particles, ρ$_{T}$ and ω$_{T}$, decaying to a Z boson and a photon with the Z decaying to electrons or muons, is presented. The search was conducted using 4.7 fb$^{-1}$ of 7 TeV data collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Two different sets of LSTC parameters were considered, one was excluded at the 95% confidence level for ρ$_{T}$/ω$_{T}$ masses from 200 GeV to 280 GeV and the other from 200 GeV to 480 GeV. An upper limit is measured for the cross section times branching fraction of any new narrow resonance decaying to the same final state for masses between 200 and 500 GeV. The Standard Model cross section times branching fraction was measured to be 1.26±0.07(stat.)±0.07(syst.) pb when the Z boson decays to electrons and 1.24±0.07(stat.)±0.11(syst.) pb when it decays to muons which is consistent with the theoretical prediciton of 1.22±0.05(syst.) pb.
