description The MoEDAL experiment at the LHC is designed to identify new physics in the form of long-lived highly-ionising particles. Its arrays of plastic nuclear-track detectors and aluminium trapping volumes provide two independent passive detection techniques. The status of the MoEDAL runs and analyses are presented, including the first constraints on magnetic monopole production in 13 TeV proton-proton collisions using the innovative MoEDAL trapping detector, extending a previous publication obtained with 8 TeV data. The new search probes monopole mass ranges previously inaccessible at colliders and sets the best collider limits so far for magnetic charges ranging from two to four times the Dirac charge.
