description This work describes the precise measurements made on the six DATCHA alignment bars. In parallel a finite element model of these carbon fiber bars was developed which showed to be able to give qualitative predictions on the bar's mechanical behavior. Large test series have been done to examine properties of carbon fiber such as elasticity and expansion under exchange of moisture. Hereby large inhomogenities as high as +/- 15% showed up. This may aggravate precise numerical calculations or optimization of carbon fiber bar's properties.
