Sumario: | The purpose of this work is to examine muon reconstruction in the Phase 1 of upgrade
of CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) the detector and compare it to the current geometry
at the SLHC (Super Large Hadron Collider) environment.
In order to contrast both geometries, it was needed to reconstruct µ+µ− resonance
and identify the signal of J/ψ meson and Z boson, to then, proceed to divide into the
sample segments of pseudo-rapidity (η) and muons transverse momentum (pT ) to plot
the invariant mass as a function of η and pT , respectively.
The shape of these histograms is fitted with Gaussian functions from which are extracted
relevant parameters as the mass, the standard deviation and the eficiency, in order to
do the comparison between the two geometries. From these results we concluded that
the average value of the mass of the particles is closer to the nominal value of the mass
described in the PDG (Particle Data Group) for the J/ψ meson and the Z boson in both
geometries. With the update on the Phase 1 of the CMS, the total number of events
detected increased compared to the current the SLHC geometry for the J/ψ meson and
the Z boson. |
