description Measurements of heavy-flavour production are a key ingredient to study properties of the Quark-Gluon-Plasma (QGP). Heavy quarks, i.e. charm and beauty, are created in the early stages of the collision and experience the full evolution of the medium, interacting via elastic and inelastic processes with its constituents. In this paper, recent results from the ALICE collaboration on heavy-flavour production at mid-rapidity (heavy-flavour hadrons and electrons) in pp [1] [2], p-Pb and Pb-Pb [3] collisions are reviewed. The comparison between experimental measurements and QCD calculations can shed light on the transport properties of the QGP.
