Measurement of Jet Modification through Jet-hadron Correlation in Pb–Pb Collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\text{NN}}} = 5.02$ TeV

description Jets are well calibrated and established probes of the properties of Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP), which is hot and dense QCD medium formed in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. At the formation of QGP, initial energies of the hard scattered partons, which are the origin of jets, can be suppressed and re-distributed while traversing the QGP. As a consequence, measured jet profiles are modified in comparison with the case of vacuum. This phenomenon is known as jet quenching. A jet-hadron correlation study is performed to characterize the jet quenching effect. Jet and associated hadron correlation is measured to investigate possible modification of the jet shape. We will present the results in Pb–Pb collisions at the centre-of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV based on data samples collected with ALICE at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in 2015. We observed a difference for near-side jet-like peak shape in-plane and out-of-plane relative to the 2nd order event plane. The result hints at initial collision geometry dependence of jet modification in relativistic heavy-ion collisions.
