description | Since a few years (roughly from 2012-2013), a series of experimental results areshowing a coherent pattern of deviation from the Standard Model (SM) predictionsin semi-leptonic decays of the B-mesons. The so called " flavour anomalies " canbe grouped in two sets of observables: experimental deviations in semi-leptonicdecays in Flavour Changing Charged Current (FCCC) and experimental deviations insemi-leptonic decays in Flavour Changing Neutral Current (FCNC). In both casesthe present significance of the departure from the SM reaches the 4σ level. Inthe light of the absence of New Physics signals in direct searches from ATLASand CMS experiments, the flavour anomalies represent, in my opinion, the hottesttopic of particle physics phenomenology beyond the SM of the recent times. Myfeeling is shared by a large fraction of the community, and it is also manifestin the program of this conference were several talks have been assigned that arerelated with this topic. I can count at least 8 presentations, other than mine, that deal directly with the issue of the flavour anomalies 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. Thefocus of this contribution is on anomalies in $b → sll $ transitions and it islargely based on the recent work 9. |
