Sumario: | The luminosity performance for an electron-ion collider demands high-current operation for both the electron and ion beams, for a wide range of collision energies. This poses many challenges on the beam stability with regard to collective effects. In this paper, we present preliminary estimations of coherent instabilities for both of the EIC designs, i.e. JLEIC and eRHIC. Mitigation mechanisms or schemes envisioned for suppression of the instabilities are also discussed. |
