En este texto se analizan las condiciones locales y electorales que, en tiempos recientes, permitieron una sorpresiva victoria perredista en Tierra Blanca, un municipio guanajuatense con fuerte presencia otomí. Al mismo tiempo, el caso permite revisar una hipótesis de investigación centrada en la asociación entre mediaciones étnicas y el predominio del panismo en la entidad.
