This study analyzed the effect of irrigation with only two, three or four micro-sprinklers per tree, providing yield, firmness, soluble solids content, acidity and fruit weight per tree. Since trees did not have the same morphology and biological characteristics, there were changes in yield, ripening and fruit size. Root content helped to determine how many sprinklers to install per tree, the ideal area where fertilizer should be dosed, and the correct place to measure soil moisture. By applying water all around the tree, a delay in production was observed and premature mango drop was avoided.

México es el primer exportador de mango a nivel mundial y requiere producir fruta de alta calidad. Una huerta de mango variedad Haden se regó mediante un sistema automático de aspersión colocado entre las hileras de árboles. Grupos de micro-aspersores se colocaron en los extremos de la corona de árbol y el riego se aplicó cada 2 d por periodos de 0.5 h. El estudio analizó el efecto del riego con solo dos, tres o cuatro micro aspersores por árbol, obteniéndose el rendimiento, firmeza, contenido de sólidos solubles, acidez y peso de los frutos por árbol. Al no tener los árboles la misma morfología y características biológicas, se presentaron cambios en el rendimiento, maduración y tamaño del fruto. El contenido radicular permitió determinar cuántos aspersores instalar por árbol, la zona ideal donde debe dosificarse el fertilizante, y el lugar correcto para medir la humedad del suelo. Al aplicar agua en todo el contorno del árbol se apreció un retraso en la producción y se evitó la caída de mangos prematuros.
