La producción de un aserradero de Pinus radiata se optimizó mediante el análisis de máquinas críticas.
Se desarrollaron dos modelos de simulación para el aserrío de trozos de 2.5 y 5.0 m de longitud.
La cantidad de trozos procesados por turno fue la variable respuesta del modelo.
La modificación de cuatro factores en el flujo de proceso mejoró el nivel de producción.
La producción incrementó 13 y 18 % cuando se procesaron trozos de 2.5 y 5.0 m, respectivamente.

The production of a Pinus radiata sawmill was optimized through the analysis of critical machines.
Two simulation models were developed for the sawing of 2.5 and 5.0 m long logs.
The number of logs processed per shift was the response variable of the model.
The modification of four factors in the process flow improved the production level.
Production increased by 13 and 18 % when 2.5 and 5.0 m logs, respectively, were processed.
