This article presents some features of the problems facing this sector, as well as some solution proposals to elaborate and implement public fisheries policies within the framework of the “Fourth Transformation “1 of the country Los mares, las costas y la pesca ribereña tienen una profunda importancia económica, social, cultural y ambiental para la nación. Durante muchos años, particularmente durante los últimos gobiernos neoliberales, una serie de políticas equivocadas han orillado a esta actividad y a estos ecosistemas a una profunda crisis. En este artículo se exponen algunos rasgos de las problemáticas que enfrenta este sector, así como algunas propuestas de solución para la formulación e implementación de políticas públicas pesqueras en el marco de la “Cuarta Transformación” del país.
