Sumario: | In rural communities, especially those of indigenous descent, medicinal plants are an important resource to face the processes of health and disease. The therapeutic application of flora is relevant, but it is even more important the sociocultural enviroment that discovered its usefulness, that applied the intellect on these resources and created a healing system. In this regard, this research focuses on the study of vegetal entities linked with specific techniques that build the social space of traditional medicine. The concept that develops the research methodologically is space, conceived as the indissoluble notion of systems of objects and systems of actions, which is mediated by techniques that reproduce an intention in specific social contexts. Thus, this study analyzes the spaces related to health and popular treatments generated in Ixcanelco, a Nahua community in the Huasteca Veracruzana. The therapeutic spaces identified are multifunctional, they enable the preservation of a culture and the curative flora, they also function as a cognitive technostructure for the generation of practices and knowledge that make up the biocultural heritage of the Huasteca and Mexico. The analytical method allows to know the parts and interrelation that make up the social space, it is a qualitative approach that studies the subjectivity of the actors, relying on semi-structured interviews and descriptions of an ethnographic nature |
