description In this work, the agricultural land-cover polygons developed by the Agri-food and Fisheries Information Service (SIAP by its acronym in Spanish) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER by its acronym in Spanish) were classified, their main characteristic is the distinction between irrigated and rainfed lands. The studied area includes the entire national territory. 1) We worked on a study universe of more than 360 thousand agricultural polygons. 2) 10 types of slope or representative cells of the relief with a resolution of 1 km for the national scale. 3) Of which it can be summarized that 5.0 % of the national territory corresponds to rainfed agriculture settled on lands with a slope less than 6°, also 3.0 % of the national territory corresponds to irrigated agriculture on lands with a slope less than 6°, while 5.4 % of the national territory corresponds to rainfed agriculture settled on lands with a slope greater than 6°, while only 1.8 % of the national territory corresponds to irrigated agriculture on lands with a slope greater than 6°.

En este trabajo se clasificaron los polígonos con cobertura de tierra agrícola desarrollados por el Servicio de Información Agroalimentaria y Pesquera (SIAP) de la Secretaría de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural (SADER), cuya característica principal es la distinción entre tierras de riego y de temporal. El área estudiada comprende todo el territorio nacional. 1) Se trabajó sobre un universo de estudio superior a los 360 mil polígonos agrícolas. 2) 10 tipos de pendiente o celdas representativas del relieve con una resolución de 1 km para la escala nacional. 3) De los cuales se puede resumir que el 5.0 % del territorio nacional corresponde a agricultura de temporal dispuesta en terrenos con pendiente menor a 6°, asimismo 3.0 % del territorio nacional corresponde a agricultura de riego dispuesta en terrenos con pendiente menor a 6°, mientras 5.4 % del territorio nacional corresponde a agricultura de temporal dispuesta en terrenos con pendiente mayor a los 6°, en tanto que solo el 1.8 % del territorio nacional corresponde a agricultura de riego dispuesta en terrenos con pendiente mayor a 6°.
