Sumario:Coffee rust has devastated crops and economy, reconfiguring the dynamics at national and global level. This study provides an analysis and systematic use of actions implemented, which have been adapted for control. The assimilation of technology will determine the quality of production in the next 10 years and the preservation of ecosystems. The methodology action-research was aimed at recovering, between 2015 and 2016, a perspective of the problems of the coffee crisis, seen by the small producer in Teocelo, Veracruz, which is located inside a biodiversity reservoir threatened with extinction: the cloud forest. The proposal is based on strengthening Mexico’s competitive advantage as a producer of free chemical coffee, in areas such as: a) promoting coffee quality, through the assimilation of technologies that allow the recovery of the coffee plantations b) diffusion of inherited practices, proven by farmers and producers in the management of coffee plantation, which favor the preservation of its territory and microenvironments, against the implementation of actions taken by the federal government such as the exchange of “tolerant to rust” varieties grown in semi-open field, involving the rapid and irreversible destruction of forest ecosystems in Mexico and the world.
