Sumario:This article presents the research carried out as part of a master's, on the meanings given by teachers and students of voting age, from and in high school, to voting, young people’s voting, and the role of the school. In 2013, Argentina recognized the extension of political citizenship to a part of the adolescents who live in compulsory school. This extension of political rights is combined with a favourable structural framework that has been developing in the country for three decades. The field of study of this work is the ideological processes in the school institution. The research was developed from a qualitative approach. Among the results, a problem emerged that became relevant for the research, and that is the discomfort produced by the political party positions that occur in the school environment. The field research was carried out in a state-run secondary school in the province of Buenos Aires, Gran Buenos Aires sur, Argentina. Two hundred students and 18 teachers from different curricular areas and institutional positions participated.
