Homoeroticisms in the narrative of Oswaldo Reynoso: space and initiation

The objective of this article is to demonstrate how in Oswaldo Reynoso’s autobiographical texts a homoeroticism prevails constructed from a space-time configuration used by the autodiegetic narrator to carry out a constant (re)discovery of desire for the male body. For this reason, the texts En busca de Aladino (1993), En busca de la sonrisa encontrada (2012), Arequipa, lámpara incandescente (2014) and Capricho en azul (2020) will be studied. Throughout these works, a triad of spaces can be seen –the bar,the streets of marginalized neighborhoods and the beach– where the gaze and desire of the autodiegetic narrator delight in the contemplation nd encounter with young people. These places are recovered through a memory that poses a constant initiation of self discovery, since the autobiographical subject establishes a dialogue with his own youth and with that of the characters in the aforementioned works.
