The link of blackness with slavery constitutes the central axis of the research; it justified the systematization of the enslavement of people of color, as well as the permanence of this status and of the institution of slavery for centuries. Keywords: Race, Freedom, Blackness, Slavery En este libro, se considera la raza como la esencialización de un grupo humano en función de criterios biológicos y culturales; la raza es una categoría política, una construcción social fundada, en este caso, para justificar la esclavitud de los siglos XVI al XIX en tres regiones de plantaciones: los actuales estados de Virginia y Luisiana en el sur de Estados Unidos, y Cuba. El vínculo de la negritud con la esclavitud constituye el eje central de la investigación; justificó la sistematización de la esclavitud de las personas de color, así como la permanencia de este estatus y de la institución esclavista a lo largo de los siglos. Palabras clave: Raza, Libertad, Negritud, Esclavitud Dans ce livre on considère la race comme l'essentialisation d’un groupe humain en fonction des critères biologiques et culturels ; la race est une catégorie politique, une construction sociale fondée, dans ce cas, pour justifier l’esclavage du XVIe au XIXe. En trois régions de plantations : les actuels états de Virginie et Louisiane au sud des États-Unis et à Cuba. Le lien de la négritude avec l’esclavage constitue l’axe central de la recherche ; il a justifié la systématisation de l’esclavage des personnes de couleur, ainsi que la permanence de ce statut et de l’institution  esclavagiste au cours des siècles.
