Diversiones prehispánicas de las culturas mexica y maya: sus huellas en el tiempo

Este texto registra las huellas que dejaron las diversiones de dos de las más importantes culturas mesoamericanas, la mexica y la maya, en las manifestaciones festivas y populares en varias épocas y hasta el siglo XXI. Con el método de las semiosferas de Iury Lotman, se traducen las diversiones en cada etapa histórica, para distinguir los cambios sociales y con ellos la transformación en la forma de percibir y ejecutar las danzas, danzas-drama y escenificaciones por parte de los pueblos originarios de México. Prehispanic Amusements from the Mexica and Maya Cultures and their Traces in Time Abstract Two of the most important Mesoamerican cultures –the Mexica and the Mayan– practiced diverse forms of popular amusements, which left traces found up to the present century. The article discusses the historical iterations of these performances with aid of Iury Lotman’s semiosphere theory, to understand how they change over the years in relation to shifting social circumstances. Until today, these social changes have been accompanied by continuous transformations in the ways in which Mexican indigenous people perceive and perform their dances, dance-dramas and stagings.
