Sumario:This article reveals some dilemmas faced by women between performing maternal roles and working activities. It is based on a characterization of the dynamics of the population under study, demonstrating the existence of a female labor reserve. A triangulated methodology is used that combines the analysis of statistical data on the population, with reproductive histories of selected women. It concludes by reflecting on the need for social policies that support the performance of the reproductive role by women respecting their reproductive rights and promoting their labor participation as an important way of empowerment.
