A pesar de que la funcionalidad original de las criptomonedas consistía en su participación en transacciones en banca, mercados financieros y servicios gubernamentales, entre otros, la volatilidad que las caracteriza ha retrasado tanto su aceptación entre los inversionistas como su entrada a las pasarelas de pago. Sin embargo, las debilidades actuales de las criptomonedas son lo que da origen a su evolución constante y a su fortalecimiento en el mundo.
