En este texto se presentan los resultados de una investigación desarrollada en la Universidad Veracruzana (UV), donde se aplicó un instrumento piloto a 91 estudiantes universitarios que integran seis áreas de conocimiento: Artes, Ciencias Biológico-Agropecuarias, Ciencias de la Salud, Económico-Administrativa, Humanidades y Técnica, en la región de Xalapa. Entre los resultados se destaca que el 99% de los estudiantes en la UV utilizan un teléfono inteligente (smartphone); el 33.67% lo emplean de 4 a 6 horas continuas; el 52% prefieren usarlo en horario nocturno, de 6:00 p. m. a 12:00 a. m.; y el 76% lo ocupan cuando están en su casa.
