Luz rebelde. Mujeres y producción cultural en el México posrevolucionario

The role of women in the Mexican cultural sector remains largely, uncharted territory, despite a growing corpus of research. The most famous women of the 20th century, such as Frida Kahlo, Tina Modotti, Nahui Olin or Nellie Campobello, do not fit easily into stories written from male perspectives; and, for every one of them, there are others whose artistic and literary production, in many cases bold and iconoclastic at their time, has fallen into oblivion. This book explores various facets of the landscape that the creators inhabited in post-revolutionary Mexico —a time of conflict, change and construction. Six contemporary researchers address the creative worlds of six literary and artistic figures: Concha Michel, Aurora Reyes, Concha Urquiza, Leonor Llach, Asunción Izquierdo Albiñana, and Lola Cueto The study of the contributions of these authors, each one fascinating in her own, opens new paths to understanding the multiple ways in which the study of women as cultural agents necessarily changes the meaning of Mexico's cultural history.
